“Hope…….Never give up hope!  The minute you do, she will feel it and give up too.”

I'm Karen, Nina's Mother and those words will linger in my mind for the rest of my life.  
     

Nina woke up that morning with a terrible headache. Within 1 hour of waking up Nina was disoriented and lost her vision.  She was driven to St. Jude’s Hospital.  On the way to the hospital she lost consciousness.  When I (Nina’s Mom) arrived at the hospital 5 minutes after Nina did.  The doctor asked me a few questions then took Nina for a CT scan.  Within 15 minutes Nina was back, and I was informed that her brain was bleeding.  The neurosurgeon had been paged and was on his way.  Nina needed to be to be put on a breathing machine.  I was asked to step in to a private room down the hall.
